Hermès Jewelry

Hermès was founded by Thierry Hermès in 1837. Though Hermès is now known as the world’s most valuable fashion brand, it got its start as a harness workshop. Later specializing in saddles, bridles, and other riding gear, the horse was the original Hermès client. Before the now-iconic Kelly, Constance, and Birkin, it released the Picotin and Haut àCourroies (bags created to hold horse feed and saddles, respectively). It was not until 1922, that Hermès began to produce bags for women.

More about Hermès Jewelry

Just five years later, the house further expanded, creating a jewelry range as well. Its first piece, called the Filet de Selle, was a bracelet. A miniature silver bit attached to a leather strap, it was inspired by the harness.

Hermès has developed its jewelry line to also include rings, necklaces, and earrings; though, its bracelets have always been its highest selling pieces. Among the most popular:

he Chaîne d’Ancre. Modeled after a ship anchor’s thick chain, each interlocking link resembles a capital ‘H’, which has since become an insignia for the house. Now, the Chaîne d’Ancre is an entire line, spanning earrings, necklaces, and rings as well.

The Kelly Bracelet. The Kelly Bag, which was first designed in 1930, but did not become known as the Kelly until 1956, has a signature strap and clasp. They were made into a bracelet, featuring the twist lock closure on exotic crocodile skin. The Kelly Bracelet can also be purchased in pure gold. Today, it is available in white, yellow, or rose gold – set with diamonds or not.

The Collier de Chien (CDC, for short). Re-imagined from a custom-made collar for a customer’s French Bulldog, it is a thick leather strap adorned with an O-ring and pyramid-shaped studs. Following many requests, the house sized it down and converted it into a bracelet. Prior to this, it was also re-imagined as a belt.

The H Bracelet (unofficially dubbed the Clic Clac by fans, due to the sound it makes when it is opened and closed). Re-incorporating the ‘H’ motif in a more modern way, it has a ‘H’ closure clasp, which is flanked by enamel. Since its release, the Clic Clac Bracelet has been offered in 3 sizes, 3 hardware options, and over 100 colors. Because the colors are retired quickly, new releases often create a frenzy among collectors.

All of these bracelets are still sold by Hermès. Want to get the look for less? Shop from our pre-loved collection and save. You will also find Hermès earrings, necklaces, and rings!
