In the Cruise 2019 collection, Nicolas Ghesquière enriched the lives of all the Louis Vuitton lovers out there when he debuted the new Dauphine bag. Inspired by and named after an archival design from the 1970s, the new Louis Vuitton Dauphine embraces the house’s heritage while adapting to modern times.
Similar to the vintage Dauphine, the Louis Vuitton Dauphine has a rectangular shape and a magnetized front LV lock. Ghesquière updated the bag by modernizing the lock and giving it two straps, a chain one and a leather one. Both straps are removable, and the leather one is adjustable, which provides more carrying options. The bag comes in two sizes: the Dauphine MM and the Mini Dauphine.
The MM measures 25 x 17 x 10.5 cm and has a spacious interior with two compartments, a middle zipper pocket, and a slip pocket at the back. The Mini is 20 x 15 x 9 cm and features two main compartments and a back slip pocket.
The Louis Vuitton Dauphine was initially introduced in Monogram canvas and Monogram Reverse canvas. But if brown is not your color, do not worry. It comes in various colorways and materials.
In the market for a colorful Dauphine? Then, opt for one crafted from grained Taurillon leather. The MM is available in Bleu/Beige and Panama/Scarlet and the Mini in Blackberry/Snow, Bruni/Strawberry Milk, Crème/Kombu, and Noir/Blanc. Alternatively, consider one crafted from smooth calfskin in red, black, beige, Azur blue, and white. If black, white, or Saffron yellow is more your style, choose an Epi leather one.
Want to set yourself apart from the crowd? The Dauphine also comes in tweed, crocodile, the newer Since 1854 textile, and Monogram LV Pop print.
Since its reintroduction, the Dauphine has grown into a collection. The collection includes a backpack, bumbag, pochette, chain wallet, hobo bag, and other accessories, ranging from wallets and key holders to belts.
